Seawalker Original

Tradition meets cutting edge innovation…

For hundreds of years horse trainers have recognized the benefits of salt water for their horses – however not everyone has direct, easy access to the sea.

The Seawalker Original brings the benefits of the sea right into your facility. With this equine water walker the user can target different muscle groups in the horse by varying the height of the water, whilst the chilled salt water acts as a powerful restorative.

Training at lower depths encourages the horse to exaggerate its natural stride in an effort to minimise the resistance of the water. This type of cross-training work, helps strengthen abdominal musculature which is paramount to the core strength of any horse in any discipline.

In deeper water, the horse has to work harder and makes more of a wading action, employing the rear quarter and back muscles; this provides a more general aerobic exercise platform.

Trainers with a Seawalker have reported excellent results in preventing horses from ‘tying up’ and have a significant reduction in general post-work stiffness with warm-up/cool-down sessions before and after training.

Each Seawalker is unique and tailor made to your surroundings, size and usage. Made using the pioneering Belebro horse walker, it is built for your needs. For more information please contact us.

X-Trainer Module

Conditioning your horses like never before…

Since its creation in 2005, the unrivalled Seawalker concept has been continuously researched, developed and improved.

The Seawalker X-Trainer option of our equine water walker has been born out of this process but with a specific focus on using dynamic variable water resistance (programmable using varying water levels to target specific musculature in any single training session) to help develop and maintain horse fitness.

The Seawalker X-Trainer can replace a high proportion of ridden exercise, concentrating ridden training on developing competitive edge. Variable depth and resistance gives a comprehensive workout that requires alterations in the horse’s gait and body carriage. As a result, far more of the musculo-skeletal system is utilised, allowing a greater level of fitness to be achieved as well as enhanced core-stability and proprioception – all of which are a tremendous benefit at any level of training and in any discipline.

Our extra-rapid flow X-Trainer Module enables the water depth to be varied from empty, right up to the horse’s shoulder and back to empty again, during the course of a single training session. This provides a thorough and varied training program, and allows the trainer to target key muscle groups by creating a range of customised programs to achieve specific objectives in any equine discipline.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

  • Used correctly, Seawalker is probably the most significant step forward ever in the training of the equine athlete…

Mary Bromiley MBE FCSP SRP World-renowned equine physiotherapist
  • Cross-training in the Seawalker produces a stronger, more stable and balanced musculoskeletal system. This is likely to produce more confidence in the equine athlete and frequently a greater willingness to push itself that bit further. Walking through the water encourages the horses to adopt self-carriage. Working in such a way is an ideal scenario for all horses…

  • We have already experienced many individual cases in the short time of having the Seawalker but of particular note was that leg joints and fetlocks tightened up in all horses, the effect was noticeable within days…

  • A common problem with racehorses is that post-training the muscles can ‘tie up’ or seize. This is very painful for a horse and we found once again that a 20 minute session in the Seawalker before and after riding controlled this problem better than any medication…

  • For the sprinting thoroughbreds a 20 minute session on the Seawalker before training would loosen up the muscles and we found the horses moved remarkably better directly after…
